I am not one bit jealous of the spring the Midwest is having. While my friends back home are getting day after day of cold rain and snow, I’m out here enjoying the beauty that spring has to offer.
Birds chirping…flowers blooming…65 degrees with the sun shining down.
As I watch spring unfold around me, I’m particularly inspired by the colors of the magnolia trees blooming outside my office…
Magnolias are beautiful, and I think they’re a perfect symbol for this season…this transition period between winter and summer. It’s as if the flower’s white and beige tones are reminding us of the colorless winter that has passed, while the rosy pink hues hint at the summer ahead.
After moving out east, I’ve realized that spring is no longer a miserable extension of winter. It’s a distinct season. With its own identity and its own beauty. A season to no longer dread.
And for that, its found a new place in my heart.
