Whether you love or hate this Hallmark holiday, there’s no escaping it. For those madly in love, its a day to dote on your other half … for those in between loves, its a day to dote on yourself. But no matter what your feelings are about this particular day, there’s no reason you can’t embrace looking great.
The way I see it, it gives us all an excuse to wear pinks and reds at the tail end of a winter full of dreary and drab. It’s an excuse to eat chocolates and candies (even if you bought them for yourself) and feel no shame. And it’s one more day where you get to remind everyone you love how much they mean to you — moms, dads and grandmas too.
Yes, it’s a day full of gushy lovebirds and lots of proposals, but it can also be so much more than that. So don’t boycott February 14th. Embrace it. Wear red and get dolled up, even if it’s just for your co-workers or a group of girlfriends. Dress for yourself, to feel good about you. Valentine’s Day isn’t just about loving someone else, it’s about loving yourself. So embrace your inner beauty and show off a little. Remind yourself and everyone else that you’re beautiful.
Loving yourself also means you can eat a few too many sweets without any regret :) Just don’t be too busy loving youself that you forget to say “I Love You” to at least one other person today.
