Lipstick is an accessory I rarely leave home without. More often than not, I have one shade on my lips, and about three others jostling around in my bag. The color choice depends on my outfit, and my mood for the day. But regardless of which tube I choose, I know it livens up my entire face … even on those mornings when my tired eyes tell a different story.
Since I’ve gotten a few questions about my lip colors, I decided to share with you my go-to grabs in the morning, along with some pictures of these shades in action.
I just recently added these L’oreal shades to my collection, and I must say I’m a big fan of the more subtle pinks. I’m sure you’ll see more of them in future posts. As for the rest? Well the pictures don’t lie — these lipsticks have been worn over and over again, and I just can’t get enough.
Clockwise from top left
Dolce & Gabbana “Sparkling” ~ This is my go-to neutral color. It adds a little more interest than a sheer gloss would, but still has that understated shine. On a casual, low maintenance day, this is usually my answer. On the flip side, it also looks fabulous when I’m really playing up my eye makeup and want to shift the focus there.
MAC “Frost” ~ As I sit here writing this post, I’m sad to say MAC might have discontinued this shade. This is devastating to me. I just looooove this purple-y hue!! It goes on creamy, with a little bit of sheen, and it looks great with blues, greens and violets. I love it because it is just bold enough, without being a full-on statement lip.
MAC “Girl About Town” ~ Besides being the utensil that Peter writes me love notes with on our bathroom mirror, this is my sassy, playful lipstick. I find that it’s SO bold that I rarely wear it with other brights. For me, it’s an accessory … a pop of color on a more neutral outfit. You’ll see me wearing this fun, matte stick with mostly black, navy and white.
Sephora “Mademoiselle” ~ What girl doesn’t love a red lip? This was my first purchase of the bold lipstick variety, and has quickly become a staple in my makeup bag. It’s a universal classic that will never go out of style. I’ll wear this matte finish with a neutral look to give it some pazazz, but I’m also not afraid to wear a little red on red either. Quite honestly it makes me feel sexy!
So that’s a little peek into my makeup bag. What are some of your go-to lip colors? Happy Friday!
