USA is out of the World Cup. Memorial Day is a distant memory. And apart from the lingering hangover, the Fourth of July has essentially come and gone. But those shouldn’t be the only occasions you rep your red, white and blue. It’s summer! And summer near the waterfront begs for a classic nautical look. In this case, navy and white stripes with pops of red.
Manhattan may be an island, surrounded by rivers and the ocean alike, but it’s easy to get lost in the concrete jungle and forget about the waterfront. One afternoon we ventured down to Battery Park City, and if it weren’t for the prominent reminders of the Freedom Tower and the Statue of Liberty looming in the distance, I would have completely forgotten this was the same city I call home. It is beautiful down there, with the harbor, boats and waves. It kinda brought me back to my Milwaukee Lakefront days.
I wouldn’t be opposed to scoping out this neighborhood on the next apartment hunt. If anything, I’d have more chances to wear nautical attire :)
