A large crowd of people are standing around the baggage carousel as the luggage starts to come out. It’s the early evening. We’ve just traveled 14 hours (with a missed connection) and have arrived safely at London Heathrow. One by one, patrons on our flight grab their bags and go off on their merry way. As the crowd slowly dwindles, that dreaded feeling in the pit of your stomach surfaces. Where the heck are our bags… Helpless yet hopeful, you watch that same grey bag rotate around and around and around with no new bags joining it. Give it one more minute… Reluctantly you just accept that your vacation will be starting without your luggage. Or in my case, your vacation will be starting and eventually ending without your luggage.
My luggage never did make it to Europe. In fact, I still haven’t been reunited with it… but THANKFULLY my entire wedding outfit was packed in Peter’s carry-on. That could have been disastrous.
As someone who woke up at 4 am to watch the Royal Wedding coverage, you can imagine I was pretttttty excited to jet-set across the pond to attend a British wedding of my own. Mainly, I was just really excited for the excuse to wear a fascinator and look like Kate Middleton. For
weeks months leading up to my cousin’s big day, I planned what I was going to wear, and found the perfect dress and an even more perfect hair piece.
Christine A. Moore, famous fashion designer and milliner, kindly offered to open up her hat and fascinator collection to me for the wedding. She’s mainly known in horse-racing circles, and designs pieces for plenty of A-List stars, but she’d probably fair pretty well working the British wedding circuit too! Her works are absolutely stunning, each one meticulously hand-crafted and unique in it’s own right. She is truly an artist, and I’m so thrilled I got the chance to work with her.
Since only one outfit managed to make it to Europe (thanks British Airways), I’m so glad that it was this one! It did create quite a fashion challenge for the remaining 11 days of my trip, though. I’m looking forward to sharing some of the outfits I pulled together, along with lots of other pictures and stories from my #loveaffairtravels in Europe. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more :-)
