Losing your luggage is a hassle. And also the worst possible way to start your vacation. Although it can be an excuse to do a little shopping, the last thing I wanted to do on my first day in a fun new city was browse the racks for something to wear that day.
My advice: Always travel in something versatile. Because you might get stuck wearing it more than once.
That’s why I was really glad I hopped on the plane in a pair of classic white jeans. They became a staple those first four days in London, coordinating with almost any top I bought to “hold me over until my luggage got there”.
Here’s a top I picked up at Banana Republic in London, paired with my trusty white jeans. I think the saddest part about purchasing this shirt was seeing all the cute items in the store that I had already purchased FOR my trip.
The backdrop is the beautiful Tower Bridge and Thames River. Oh, how I love you London.
A few other things I recommend doing the next time you need to check a bag (just in case!)
- Pack a spare outfit and extra set of shoes in your carry on
- Don’t put your make-up or toiletries in your checked luggage
- PUT YOUR CHARGERS IN YOUR CARRY ON (this was the biggest annoyance)
- Think about splitting up your clothes between your’s and your travel partner’s checked bags
I hope this never happens to any of you — but there are definitely ways to manage! Cheers!
