“Ok, ok we get it Elena. You went to New York Fashion Week and wore pretty clothes. BUT WHAT ABOUT ALL THE SHOWS?!” You’re right. I haven’t talked nearly enough about the styles, trends, and beautiful artistry I’ve seen over the last week. So to culminate my NYFW recap, I’m going to spend the next few paragraphs gushing about my favorite show of all: Badgley Mischka.
Over a week later, and I’m still swooning over these feminine designs. The structure of the gowns was flowy, effortless … almost whimsical. It felt like the models in the more voluminous gowns were actually floating down the runway.
Trends of note: Lots of see-through lace. Tasteful ruffles. And a beautiful palette of creams and nudes, interspersed with gorgeous shades of violet.
You may not be able to afford Badgley Mischka (without Rent the Runway at least), nor might you have any occasion to wear such a look, but these themes can easily be incorporated into your own spring/summer wardrobe. Break it down. Out with the structured pieces and in with more flowy cuts. Buy up some soft pinks and lavenders, and pair them with rich creams or muted grays. Florals? Well those are always in for the spring, but this time keep the pattern size small with fewer colors.
The unique part of this show was knowing that any one of these gowns could be swooped up by an A-list star and debuted to the world during the upcoming red carpet season. And I’ll have seen it already!
As if the parade of models in couture at the end of the show wasn’t finale enough, Mark Badgley and James Mischka were escorted out by Naomi Campbell, and greeted by a 25th Anniversary cake and a shower of balloons! Wishing these iconic designers another 25 years of awe-inspiring fashions and success!!
Now let me say, I would not have had the chance to see the Badgley Mischka Spring/Summer collection if it weren’t for the fabulous Hallie of Corals & Cognacs. MAJOR thank you to her for inviting me to the show. If you don’t already read her blog, I HIGHLY recommend it. Hands down, the best content of any blogger I follow. And as a bonus, she’s a fellow Midwest-transplant! I had an amazing time getting to know her, and couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the week.
That’s a wrap for my first ever New York Fashion Week! What looks were your favorite? Were you dying over this Badgley Mischka line as much as I was?? Thanks for following along – can’t wait for February!
