Every month I tell myself: “I’m turning over a new leaf. From now on I’m buying less quantity and more quality.” And then … because I live in New York and I walk by about 100 stores en route to the office … I inevitably break that promise and march right into H&M, or Zara, or Fovever 21, or … you get the idea. Promises, followed by broken promises, followed by more promises that are broken again. Sounds like my gym routine too…
So this month, I decided to turn over a partial leaf. A happy medium. One where I still allow myself to buy a few frivolous trendy things, but with a focus on quality in my core wardrobe. Jeans being one area where I’m definitely willing to invest.
I’ve made the mistake of buying cheap jeans. You know the drill. They fit great and they’re on sale! Swipe. And three hours into wearing them, you can slide them off without unbottoning them. It took me about four “this pair will be differents” to realize they wouldn’t be different. Clearly, I’m a quick learner. This time around I decided to step it up a notch and buy some Rag & Bone jeans.
The pair I chose is one I think I’m going to get a lot of wear out of. I LOVE the versatility of dark denim – it goes with almost everything in my wardrobe. It looks great with a casual sweater, leather jacket and boots like today’s look, but can also be dressed up with a cuff and a cute pair of stillettos.
So if you’re like me, and plan on wearing certain jeans over and over again, it’s important to buy a good pair! One that won’t rip when you’re doing the “pull up your pants” dance. Not that I’m speaking from experience……….
What’s your denim of choice?
