If you’ve been reading along at all up to this point, you’ll recognize that there are a few sartorial truths that I hold dear, including: (1) Polka dots will never go out of style. (2) You can never own or wear enough sparkle. (3) Burgundy is the best color of 2014. Usually these fashion rules are incorporated one at a time, each helping an outfit make a different statement. Rarely, do I get the opportunity to rock an outfit that hits all of these high points in one. Burgundy, bedazzle, and polka dots? Don’t mind if I do.
Sweater: LOFT // Pants: Ann Taylor (another fun print) // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff // Hat: Lizzibeth (similar) // Shoes: Coach // Bracelets: effYbee (onyx and platinum) and Stella & Dot
There are a few guidelines I stick to when mixing prints, one of which is pairing a statement print with a more subtle one. Polka dot pants definitely fall into the category of bold and loud, but the bedazzle on this sweater is understated enough that I took a chance on pairing them together.
Not interested in wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, but still want to look playful and fun? I wore this exact look to Color Me Courtney‘s cookie decorating party and fit right in. An outfit like this is holiday-friendly without feeling overly festive. Plus it isn’t constrained to just two months of the year. You can never go wrong with a bedazzled sweater, in any season. Try pairing it with a midi skirt for a more elegent look, or your favorite ripped jeans and heels for some distressed chic.
Are you a fan of the print party? Or are you more of a monogomous pattern gal?
