As much as I love the hustle and bustle of city life, it’s nice to occasionally get away from the concrete jungle and relax back home in the ‘burbs. Central Park is great and all, but there’s nothing like real nature and greenery (or in this case, brownery since winter in Wisconsin is brutal).

On the other hand, planning for a photo shoot is quite the production. In Manhattan, we really just walk outside and start shooting! Every city block provides a new and slightly different backdrop. Back home, we had to plan ahead, drive to the location, park, get out and walk several minutes, and THEN shoot. Maybe the title of this blog post should really be “Out of the Driveway, and On to the Parkway, and Over the River, And Through the Woods”. Basically my mom is a trooper. But it was definitely worth it for this gorgeous backdrop – a very fitting bridge in the woods for my “little-red-riding-hood-minus-the-red” cape.
Cape: The Limited (on sale!) // Sweater: The Limited (multiple colors) // Leggings: Zara (similar) // Booties: Coach (love these)// Bag: Adora Bags c/o // Watch: Michael Kors (loving this) // Bracelets: Stella & Dot and effYbee (onyx and platinum)
Have you dabbled in the “Scandal” collection at the Limited yet? I am obsessed with all things Olivia Pope and this cape did not disappoint. It’s warm, without smothering, so I paired it with a thick sweater and would even try a complimentary blanket scarf for extra layers. Leggings and short booties was a chic way to give this an uptown vibe, but you could also try jeans and some riding boots for a more casual, outdoorsy look.
I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s!
