Staying Warm Can be a Cinch

A New York Love Affair :: Belted

Well, the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday and went running for shelter. Frankly, I don’t blame him, the last few days have been miserable. Unfortunately that means we have another six weeks of winter ahead of us. FORTUNATELY that means … six more weeks of blanket scarves?? Silver lining!

But if I’m gonna be draped in oversized comforters for the next few weeks, the least I could do is switch up how I’m styling them. I tested out the belted look a few weeks ago and love how it came together. Today, I’m giving it a more casual twist, with a thicker belt and my more rugged jeans and boots.

There are a couple of perks to styling your scarf this way. First off, with the recent popularity of ponchos and capes this winter, belting your blanket is a makeshift way to dabble in the trend without breaking the bank. When you have a closet as small as mine, versatility is key! It also gives you the chance to wear something cozy and oversized, while still cinching you at your smallest point and highlighting your shape.

What a clever way to restyle a blanket scarf! I’m sure I’ve seen it done before but it’s never occurred to me to try it, and with another six weeks of winter ahead, I definitely will be now :)

Thanks, Cee!! I’ve been literally OUT of ideas (and sweaters). So I thought this would be a fun way to add some variety :-)

I love blanket scarves, but I’d give them up forever if it meant no more winter!

I love this idea! Belting the scarf is also probably helpful with the wind!

    Thanks for sharing!
