One of the best things about being a blogger in the city is the incredible opportunities to meet the other talented, amazing women who share my passions.
New York is a hub for creative, driven people and you can’t walk out your front door without running into someone who counts blogging as either a hobby, a career, or a casual fancy.
So when one of my blogger friends asked me to come check out the new line at her boutique in Queens, I hopped on the 7 train and played dress-up for the day at Lockwood Style.
Maybe it was getting out of Manhattan, or maybe it was just whimsy, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone a little bit and try on some of the latest trends in casual sportswear. Comfort and style come together, as sweatpants — yes sweatpants — have become a high fashion item. I found a pair I fell for and swooped them up.
But even the things that usually restrict your body, like a tailored jacket, are now being made in fabrics and cuts that you can lounge in just as easily as you can wear to work or out to eat. I loved the pattern on this one and the fit was everything I wanted it to be. If you’re wondering, I bought that too.
Would I have found these great, new, on-trend items? Probably not.
It just goes to show what stepping out of your comfort zone, and trying to make new friends will give you. I’ll have these sweatpants for a while — they’re so comfy — but hopefully I’ll have this great new friend for longer.
And for those of you New Yorkers … you can check out Lockwood Style’s newest spring trends at their Spring Preview Party on March 19th! Come shop, drink champagne, and play dress-up with me, Lisa and some of my favorite bloggers!
I’ll be there in my sweatpants. Hope to see you there too!
