Gone Tribal

A New York Love Affair :: Cotton Candy Skies

This season, tribal prints and geometric shapes are creeping up everywhere, giving spring fashion a contemporary twist. Since it hasn’t been quite warm enough in NYC to break out the single-layer looks, I decided to pack my spring break suitcase full of brightly patterned pieces (remember this and this?) and test out these trends on the beach.

When rocking a busy pattern or bold combo, I find it easiest to keep the rest of your look subdued. Being at the beach helped since I don’t wear much jewelry there, but even for a night out I’d anchor your look with classic gold accessories and a neutral shoe. BUT, if you’re feeling feisty, you can always spice up your ensemble with an unexpected pop of color (like I did here, during Fashion Week).

Obviously I’m bummed seriously depressed that my tan is fading beach vacation is over, but I am excited to bring my spring break looks to the streets of New York … once the weather finishes warming up.

What spring trends are you most excited about?

I absolutely LOVE the colors on this! That coral is so bright. I just recently got into the tribal thing. I started slow with just black and white. Can’t wait to wear mine, but this one is to die for!!

black and white is definitely a good way to toe into it. its a fun trend though — and i think turquoise and corals goes well with the “tribal” theme! can’t wait to see yours on the blog!
