In My White Tee

A New York Love Affair :: White Tee

White doesn’t have to be boring. It doesn’t have to play the supporting role in your outfit of the day. No one likes basic. I could borrow my boyfriend’s white undershirt if I wanted basic. You can have a white piece that stands on its own – one with interesting texture or depth – that still acts as the perfect blank canvas for your overall look.

I absolutely love the sheer stripes on this Donna Degnan shirt. The understated pattern adds interest to your look, while complimenting some bolder pattern choices. Since I’m practically begging for spring at this point, I paired my crisp whites with bright pinks and pops of blue (just in case Mother Nature is watching, and hasn’t gotten the hint yet).

Peter and I ventured over to Central Park to shoot this weekend thinking it’d be a nice change of pace from the usual urban backdrops. Unfortunately, when New Yorkers get even the slightest whiff of spring, they come out in full force. Finding a moderately quiet corner to shoot, in one of the world’s largest and busiest city parks, took a little bit of patience, and a lot of walking around like an idiot in heels (fun fact – Central Park has a lot of cobblestones!). Eventually we were able to find a serene little nook to capture some shots. The flowers may not yet be blooming, but I brought some color to the scene with my new Desigual scarf (a gift from their NYFW show!) and these bold crops.

Spring has slowly started to bloom. I’m trying to remind myself that doesn’t just mean pulling out all the brightly colored pretties I’ve been keeping locked in the closet while winter kept me in its clutches. White keeps me anchored, makes those colors pop and is a subtle entree for summer to finally arrive.

I’m ready for spring whether the weather cooperates or not. How about you?

I love the stripes in this tee! Are there sheer ones all the way down, or is it lined?
