With Memorial Day right around the corner, it’s officially starting to feel like summer in the city. And for most New Yorkers, summer in the city comes with a side of wanderlust. Why stick around this hot and muggy concrete jungle, when you could jet-set to a real one? Am I right??
Unfortunately I don’t have any fancy vacations planned, so the closest thing I’m getting to an exotic getaway is a trip south of Houston in this panama-chic look.
Jumpsuit: Desigual c/o (similar) | Jacket: Express | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff c/o | Shoes: Zara (similar) | Hat: street vendor (love this) | Bracelets: Stella & Dot + Stella & Dot | Watch: Marc Jacobs | Rings: Aldo + Paul’s Jewelers (similar)
But let’s just pretend for a minute that the hotel behind me isn’t the Crosby Hotel in SoHo, but rather a swanky hotel in Miami … are you visualizing with me? I can almost smell the beach …
On my trip to Miami, I’m packing lots of easy looks, with a few added staples for layering. I like to keep my suitcase light, but also have options, so having a lot of sundresses, rompers and jumpsuits is always a good bet.
Since I’m usually cramming everything into a carry-on (anything to avoid that $25 fee!), and have the rest of my travel necessities in an oversized tote, there’s not much room for a handbag. That’s why you’ll always catch me traveling with a small cross body bag — one that can hide out in your oversized tote when the airport security isn’t looking.
Rebecca Minkoff’s “Lane” bag will be coming on every vacation with me this year, when we’re not jetting around Manhattan together (Lane and ‘Lena…too perfect, don’t you think?). This bag strikes a nice balance between dressy and casual, and is the perfect size for my daily essentials. I thought pairing it with a chic sandal was a fun way to dress up my more casual jumpsuit from Desigual.
This bag is featured in Rebecca Minkoff’s latest campaign, appropriately name ‘wanderlust’. And remember, it’s not just about your journey, it’s how you get there and what you take with you. Are you feeling the call yet? Where are you headed and, can I come? I’m already packed…
