You see this shirt? It was an investment. Not a ‘this-is-kinda-pricey-but-I’ll-have-it-forever’ kind of investment … because this shirt only cost $10. This was an investment in my future self. A little goal I made – I’m going to buy this with the hope that I can get to a point where I feel comfortable enough to rock it. Ten dollars seemed like a small enough price to pay for a big motivation.

Throughout the last year I would periodically try it on, look in the mirror, and groan. Not today, I’d think … I was working out and eating right, but not quite there.
Finally I realized … you’re never going to feel quite ready to take a risk, otherwise it’s not a risk. You’ve just got to own it, and accessorize it with some confidence.
The most important thing you can do for yourself is whatever you wear, do it with confidence. You aren’t paid to be professionally in shape or be runway-ready beautiful. The most important accessory in your wardrobe is your own self-esteem.
Everyone struggles from time to time with body image. Even amazing, beautiful people like my friend Courtney from Color Me Courtney who boldly stood up to internet bullies over her body. If you rock something with fearlessness, no one can say a thing to you. You’re the only judge who matters.
It’s something I have to remind myself of, and something I want you to always remember. The struggle is very real for women. But it’s not a struggle you face alone. And standing up to it is easier than you think.
