It’s so easy to fall into fashion lock step — “I bought this _____ to specifically go with my _____”. And every time you wear that item, you wear that outfit – same top, same pants, maybe even same shoe and bag.
We all do it. I even struggled with this monotony when I’d look at one of my favorite tops. Remember when I wore it here? Ever since then it was dubbed as ‘my dressy top for a white jeans day’. But that’s limiting.
Top: French Connection | Shorts: J.Crew Factory | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sunnies: Coach | Sandals: Tory Burch | Bracelets: Stella & Dot + PeachBox
It’s been too hot lately for white jeans, so every time I would see this top I’d just gloss over it. But that’s totally not fair to this gorgeously vibrant piece! A shirt with this much color is just begging to be worn in summer. Finally I decided to switch things up with the next best thing to white jeans: white shorts!
There’s no reason dressy tops need to always be worn with dressy looks. I styled down my look by tucking this tank in to a more casual pair of eyelet shorts, and threw on a some rose gold sandals to round out my look. As for the bag? This little number has been my go-to all summer — pale pink is the perfect feminine neutral.
We can get on autopilot when we pick out clothes. This top with this pair of pants. We aren’t fashion robots! Break out of your patterns this week, and you’ll be glad you did.
