Over the weekend we “fell back” with our clocks, reminding us that summer is definitely over, fall is slipping away, and winter is right around a very cold and windy corner. I woke up yesterday wondering where the heck all the time has gone … it’s like Labor Day hits and then it’s a quick sleigh ride into Christmas. I mean – the Starbucks holiday cups are out already!! So I thought I’d take a moment and reflect on some of my favorite insta moments from the fall, along with some shoppable links from my recent looks.
A few weeks ago I took over Caravelle New York‘s Instagram page, sharing my favorite New York City spots. First stop = La Colombe Coffee in TriBeCa. The best cappuccino’s in the city. Shop my watch here.
This fall-favorite look from last year has been on mega-repeat again this season. Mostly because my love affair with all things burgundy continues (and is arguable stronger than ever!). Expect to also see a healthy rotation of blanket scarves again this year.
In case you missed the news – Peter and I moved into an amazing new apartment this summer and have been busy redecorating! A full tour will be coming to the blog soon, but here was a sneak peek of the bedroom!
This burgundy blazer made it’s first appearance during NYFW (full story here), but has become a regular this fall for work and play. I definitely recommend investing in a statement blazer that is conservative enough for the office, but still chic enough for weekend festivities.
This season I’ve been really into neutrals – black, white, grey, and tan (with pops of burgundy of course). If the weather is still warm enough for just a blazer, try cozying up with a blanket scarf and knit hat to combat that late afternoon chill.
Funny story about these shoes. I went into Kate Spade to snap a picture while trying on shoes for my #Caravelle instagram takeover, and I literally fell “head over heels” for this pair (too much?? haha). I just had to have them!! Best impulse purchase ever. Buy them for yourself here.
Peter and I brunched at Reynard in Brooklyn’s Wythe Hotel. A brunch bucket list spot for any good New Yorker. Even if you just order their donut and a hot coffee…
My besties came to visit last month, and I had the best time playing tourist in my own city. This was taken at the #topoftherock, which had epic views of the Empire State Building, One World Trade, and Central Park.
And what do you do when your best friends are in town? Brunch of course! The cinnamon rolls at Hundred Acres might actually be the best sweet treat I’ve ever eaten… and the rest of their food is pretty dang good too.
Trend alert!! Dusters and sleeveless blazers are the must-have item this fall. Grab a short one for a more casual every-day look, or a long one like that that will bring some drama!
My love of burgundy doesn’t stop with the clothes. I’ve been embracing a borderline vampy lip this season, favoring MACs “Verve” and “Amplified Tribalist“. I also recently teamed up with Ditto for an endless rotation of designer sunglasses. Get your first month free by using the code ‘NYLOVEAFFAIR’! Or you can buy these Prada sunnies here.
Fitting that we end on this one. I’m
doubling tripling down on my love of burgundy with a little monochromatic action. I bought this dress for a wedding this fall, and will be sharing two different ways to style it on the blog this week. Stay tuned!
And that’s my life lately in a nutshell! Which look was your favorite? Any trends you’re dying to try? Leave it all in the comments!
