Lately I’ve been all about classicly fresh looks. My color palette has mostly consisted of black, white and grey, expressed through a mix of timeless pieces and current trends. It’s my way of putting a new twist on ageless style.
The two trends that really “spoke” to me this season were sleeveless blazers and over-the-knee boots. Last week you saw how I paired them with a flirty and fun dress creating a downtown chic look. Today I’m switching things up to give you a more sophisticated uptown sleek ensemble. I love these two fashion fads because I don’t have to venture too far outside my comfort zone to work them into my wardrobe. I think they take looks that I’d already wear, and really ‘up’ them a notch.
Vest: Topshop | Sweater: WHBM | Jeans: Paige | Boots: Cole Haan | Bag: Prada | Scarf: Chicos (I know, like what?!) | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: Tiffany & Co. | Lip Color: MAC “Verve”
As for the timeless pieces? These are my wardrobe staples. They tend to be investment pieces that will weather many years of fashion volatility. For me thats a tailored black sweater, a classic black bag, and an elegent silk scarf. With the recent surgence of oversized blanket scarves, silk has taken a back seat, but I like to wear mine when striving for an air of sophisication.
Sadly, I had to leave my OTK boots in New York when I came home to Milwaukee this week. They may be boots — but heels and suede don’t work well with 5 inches of snow! I also tend to keep my leggings and oversized sweatshirts on repeat when I’m home for the holidays … but shhh! don’t tell!

I absolutely love these boots! They have such clean lines! And that bag is stunning too.
