Paint the Town Red

A New York Love Affair :: NYE 2015

When you think New Years Eve, you probably think black, gold, sequins (and champagne of course) … am I right? It’s so easy to feel the pressure of finding the perfect sparkly number for that big night out. I know the feeling, I felt it too. I even went shopping in the 11th hour after work to see if I could find the last minute answer to my NYE prayers…

…and no such luck. But not for lack of trying! There were plenty of glamorous dresses to sparkle in. But they were either too tight, or too short, or just too impractical. All this money for a dress I’ll never have occasion to wear again. So in the end, I went with something I already had in closet! Classic red lace, the perfect way to ring in this year. So timeless, it could ring in any year.

No, I didn’t find a fabulous, over-the-top sparkly dress, and yes, I saw more than enough black, gold and sequins that night. But sometimes its okay to dress against the current. Go for the unexpected wardrobe choice. For me, it was red. Bold and beautiful. For you, it could be anything! New Year’s should be about starting and ending the year as the best version of yourself.

Don’t follow, lead the pack in the gorgeous read dress. We’ve seen the shimmer, sparkle and LBD since we first understood what those fashion descriptions meant. I’m sure you stood out more than any sequin dress. Red just does that, even when you don’t mean for it to. You look great.
