We’re officially 40 days into the New Year. How many have you have stuck to your resolutions so far? Judgement free zone here. I’m proud to say that I’ve been impressively (for me at least) loyal to both of my resolutions so far: (1) hit the gym more, and (2) push the boundaries of my style comfort zone. But surprisingly, going to the gym has been the easier one!

Pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone can be a really difficult thing (it’s a comfort zone for a reason!). I usually tread very lightly in trendy waters before diving in, and my latest reticence has come with the resurgence of 70s vibes.
I have a small-ish frame, but am definitely curvy, so I don’t normally do well with unstructured pieces. However, after months of watching from the sidelines, I’m realizing that the 70s are here to stay, and I might as well dabble.
Ponchos and capes were an easy 70s trend to get on board with. For one, they are unbelievably cozy – like going out wrapped in your favorite blanket. And two, they end up looking really sophisticated when paired with classic structured pieces.
When you choose a more shapeless flowy piece, its important to ground your look with something fitted or structured. In this case, I chose a pair of fitted leggings to show my legs, and a structured bag to class up the look.
Will you see me become a bohemian goddess overnight? No! But is it fun to flex different style muscles? Absolutely! Stay tuned over the next few weeks (and especially NYFW), for some major boundary-pushing ensembles.
Now tell me, how are you doing with YOUR resolutions?
PS – I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has been so patient and supportive during this major blogging hiatus I’ve been on. Work as been unbelievably busy, and this little slice of the internet has taken a back seat. I hope to bring lots more exciting content your way very soon!
