I’ve always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with working out … love how it feels after a a good workout, but hate getting motivated to go. Same goes for eating healthy … love how skinny feels, but let’s be honest, I hate saying no to carbs and cheese!
Fortunately for me, a wedding is the ultimate motivator! With about 200 days to go, I’ve kicked my healthy routine up a notch, and today I’m sharing how!

First let’s talk about goals. I don’t think any of you (brides included) need to have a specific goal weight in mind. It’s not about the number — it’s about how you feel! My goals are more about eating right and toning up, and the rest happens naturally. In order to achieve this, I’ve focused on two areas: diet and exercise (sound familiar?).
I’ve never been good at diets, more a fan of the “80 / 20″ rule. So when I heard about Weight Watchers from a fellow bride-to-be, I knew it was the right program for me. Pasta, pizza, cheese … none of it is off-limits! The plan teaches better portion control, and steers you toward healthier options without compromising on taste. Based on your weight-loss goals, you are given a set number of points per day. From there, you track everything you eat in their handy little app, learning to stay within your defined limits. After 3 months on the program, I am down a total of 12 pounds! I’ve become addicted to all the recipes on www.skinnytaste.com, and I didn’t even have to give up my occasional glass of wine!
As many of you know, diet and exercise are two sides of the same coin, and I definitely see the best results when I focus on both. Today I want to share two programs that have worked well for me! One for the non-New Yorkers and one for the locals!

Don’t let the name fool you … this isn’t some girly little guide. Kayla is serious #fitspo and her workouts will kick your butt! She has a 12 week program with workouts that require little time and lots of sweat. Each week builds on the last, but you’ll feel yourself getting stronger with each workout. Her program is available for download on her website, and I highly recommend you check it out!
– Body Conceptions by Mahri Relin –
This one’s a new one for me. On Sunday I signed up for a 6 week challenge at Body Conceptions. They’re a studio in New York with classes designed to achieve the “lean and sculpted body of a dancer.” Let’s be real, apart from the occasional dance party in my pajamas I’m no dancer, but you don’t have to be in order to love BoCo. You just need I love music and a good sweat. Each class works out your whole body, combining cardio and sculpting movements to work your arms, abs, legs and booty. Results are TBD, but I’ll be doing weekly measurements to gauge my progress. Follow along on my InstaStory the next few weeks, and stay tuned for my challenge results in March!
