Of all the wedding planning
we’ve I’ve done so far, creating our wedding registry has undoubtedly been one of the most fun “to-dos”. Maybe not more than picking out ‘the dress’, but definitely in the top three… Why? It’s basically just shopping, without swiping your credit card at the end! I know everyone can get on board with that.
That said, you need to go in with a plan, or you will be paralyzed by options. Especially you New Yorkers out there, because apartment space is at a premium! So when deciding where to register, you have to ask yourselves a few key questions:
- What areas should we focus on? Kitchen? Home? Honeymoon? All of the above?
- More specifically, what items do we really need?
- What registry partner do we want during this process?
Peter and I have been living together for awhile and just finished decorating our apartment, so our focus is on kitchen and entertaining items. So when Bloomingdale’s reached out about collaborating on a wedding registry, it was an easy choice.
Entertaining is my cup of tea! I love hosting parties, and always focus on every little detail when I do. So I knew that picking out our china pattern, which would play a part in many future parties, would be the most exciting registry item for me. Bloomingdale’s had the best selection of fine china (by far!), allowing for lots of mixing and matching. We ultimately went with a Lenox set — bone china with 18k gold trim — which perfectly captured our elegant meets modern taste. The quality of Lenox china is unparalleled, and has stood the test of time (my grandmother had Lenox china). It was an easy decision to go with a brand that was already a part of my family lineage. With Lenox as our core setting, we also chose a few accent dishes from Vera Wang to add a little gold pizzazz for those extra special occasions.

Like I said, I love to focus on the details too. So we scoped out the perfect flatware, place settings, napkins and rings to round out our formal ware. We decided to double down on gold with our accessories, but balanced it out a little bit with this gorgeous imperial caviar flatware from Marchesa by Lenox.

As the resident chef of our home, Peter knows his way around the kitchen. Naturally, he has a very high standard for what items make their way onto our registry (and into our small kitchen). Fortunately for us, Bloomingdale’s had an incredible selection of cookware and kitchen essentials allowing us to check every box on our wish list. With top of the line brands like All-Clad and Vitamix, we couldn’t go wrong with our choices. We ended up choosing this 10-piece stainless steel set, and are currently eyeing up this fancy blender for our smoothie needs as well.

Bloomingdale’s isn’t just a name for designer clothing brands. As we learned, they’re also the ultimate destination for your registry needs. But sweetening the pot is their top notch customer service. During our registry appointment, we had our own personal consultant who walked around answering our questions and explaining the different brands and options. And as a token of their gratitude in choosing Blooomingdale’s, they give their couples a beautiful Kate Spade wedding frame, a book of registry coupons and perks, and 10% off your purchases for 6 months following the wedding. They truly went above and beyond in making our registry experience enjoyable and stress-free.
We’ve only received a few gifts so far, but who is ready to come over for a party? Peter’s cooking, and I’ll be decorating!
Thanks to Bloomingdale’s and rewardStyle for partnering on this post. As always, all opinions and experiences are my own.
